Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how we process your personal data when you use AircraftTechJobs, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR") and the Belgian Act of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data.

1. Data controller

2. Personal data we collect

  • Identity and contact data: full name, address, nationality, email address, phone number.
  • Professional data: years of experience, cover letter, CV, EASA licence and any qualifications contained in your documents.
  • Account data: login email, encrypted password, application history and status.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and security logs.
  • Preference data: theme, accessibility and cookie choices stored on your device.

We do not intentionally collect special categories of data (e.g. health, religion, ethnic origin). Please do not include such data in your documents unless legally required.

3. Purposes and legal bases

  • Processing your application and recruitment — steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
  • Creating and managing your candidate account — performance of our Terms (Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • Verifying licences and qualifications required for aviation maintenance roles — legitimate interest and legal obligations of Hiring Companies (Art. 6(1)(c) and (f)).
  • Security, fraud prevention, and service improvement — legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Keeping your profile for future vacancies — only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), which you may withdraw at any time.
  • Complying with legal obligations and defending legal claims — Art. 6(1)(c) and (f).

4. Who receives your data

  • Our authorised recruitment staff.
  • The Hiring Company for the vacancy you applied to.
  • Processors acting on our instructions under data processing agreements (hosting, database, file storage, and email providers).
  • Authorities where required by law.

We never sell your personal data.

5. International transfers

Some service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, we ensure adequate protection through an adequacy decision of the European Commission or Standard Contractual Clauses, with supplementary measures where needed. If you apply for a role located outside the EEA, your application will be transmitted to that Hiring Company as necessary to process your application (Art. 49(1)(b) GDPR).

6. Retention

We keep data only as long as necessary. See our Data Retention Policy for specific periods.

7. Security

We use encryption in transit, encrypted password storage, private file storage accessible only through short-lived authorised links, role-based access for staff, and access logging. No system is completely secure; we will notify you and the authority of personal data breaches where legally required.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access your personal data and obtain a copy;
  • rectify inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • erasure ("right to be forgotten");
  • restriction of processing;
  • data portability;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interest;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing;
  • not be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing. We do not use automated decision-making in recruitment.

To exercise your rights, email info@ethiconomy.be. We will respond within one month (extendable by two months for complex requests) and may ask you to verify your identity.

9. Complaints

You may lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données), Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, contact@apd-gba.be, www.dataprotectionauthority.be, or with the authority of your country of residence.
